Roman Abramovich’s Right to Light headache

Even one of the richest men in the world can fall foul of the thorny subject of a neighbours ‘Right to Light’. As you’ve probably been reading in the press the proposed redevelopment of Chelsea’s new stadium is being held up by a determined neighbour who is enforcing their Right of Light.

However this is not just an issue for Russian oligarchs as it can affect all new developments. Even relatively small domestic extensions can lead to an injunction if a neighbour has a Right of Light and the proposal doesn’t leave them with what a court would regard as an ‘adequate’ amount of light.

MES specialises in Rights to Light issues and can establish if your proposed development puts you at risk of an injunction. Don’t hesitate to contact us for a free initial review of your scheme, or come along to one of our seminars to find out more about the dark art of Rights to Light.
