Neighbourly Matters – Trees glorious trees
Neighbourly Matters – Trees glorious trees Our Daylighting experts have noticed that planning authorities are becoming more concerned about the impact that existing trees will have on natural light levels in new properties.

Planners are often put under pressure from occupiers of new developments to allow removal of existing trees when they are making their rooms too dark. There is some clear BRE guidance on this and we are able to measure the potential effects of existing trees and, if necessary, help the architect to design and specify a new building to ensure natural light levels are suitable with the trees in place.

For further details on this, or any other Right to Light or Daylighting issues, please contact our Neighbourly Matters team on 01636 653055.

MES Charity Challenge 2017
MES Charity Challenge 2017 Here at MES we don’t sit still for long. Hot on the heels of our September 2016 triathlon event, we have decided to spend this year clocking up a combined 10,000km target by whatever self-propelled means possible – walking, running, swimming, cycling or skiing. Everyone is involved and the final push will be a weekend team walk in the Peak District. To date, we have already covered just over 4,000km so we are on target.

This year we have chosen the Alzheimer’s Society to benefit from our fundraising efforts. We hosted a cupcake sale on the 15th June and we have a Memory Walk planned for 1st October in and around Clumber Park, Nottinghamshire.

Our aim is to raise £2,000 and every year we are overwhelmed by the generosity of our clients, family and friends. Please see our JustGiving link below and look out for regular updates on our Facebook and Twitter pages. If you are in a position to donate we would be very grateful.

TM59 Design Methodology for the Assessment of Overheating Risk in Homes
Over-heating risk has been a growing concern within the building industry over the last decade, especially the residential sector.

Given the complexity of the factors influencing overheating, it is important that a standardised methodology is used to assess risk and so, CIBSE have published their latest technical memorandum; TM59: Design methodology for the assessment of overheating risk in homes.

MES are experienced in producing overheating risk assessment reports and we use state-of-the-art dynamic simulation computer software as recommended by the new TM59 document. For more information on this, please contact Paul Shipley on 01636 653055.
