Air Leakage Testing - We Can Help
Air Leakage Testing With the current Part L requiring projects to achieve lower and lower air leakage rates, it’s becoming more difficult to achieve targets first time.

MES offer a range of related services including design input and reviewing details, mid construction testing and/or on-site inspections and the final Air Leakage Test when your project is complete. Our advice and guidance on projects helps clients achieve a first time pass, making sure the process runs smoothly as projects near completion.

Building Control bodies are now only authorised to accept Air Leakage Test certificates from members of ATTMA and iATS. MES are qualified and accredited with ATTMA and are able to carry out Air Leakage Testing on both domestic and commercial properties.

We can also assist with:
  • Ventilation design
  • Ventilation testing and/or commissioning *
  • Design SAP or SBEM
  • As Build SAP or SBEM
  • Building Pathology *
* These services can be combined with Air Leakage Testing and/or each other to reduce testing fees.

If you have any projects that you feel would benefit from an experienced air testing firm or you require any of our other services please email Matthew Crowther.

Rights of Light – the Dark Art
Rights of Light A Right of Light gives a neighbour the ability to stop development even if there is planning approval and work has started on site. It is an area that can be confusing, unpredictable and pivotal to the success of a project.

If you are proposing a new development, that will reduce light into a neighbouring property, it is very important to pay attention to this at the outset. We have successfully resolved numerous Rights of Light issues and our clients range from large scale central London developers to individual homeowners. We have provided full technical analysis, made representations in court and negotiated settlements on behalf of our clients.

We are experts in legal Right to Light evaluations as well as Daylighting and Sunlight tests for planning applications. If you need any help in these areas, please do not hesitate to contact us. You can email your plans directly to James by clicking here or alternatively, please call to discuss your project in more detail. For further information on the Right to Light please click here. We also run CPD seminars on Right of Light/Daylighting at our London, Newark, Manchester or Bristol venues. Please click here for more details.

Dynamic Simulation Modelling (DSM) – SBEM made easier
Dynamic Simulation Modelling (DSM) – SBEM made easier Meeting the new Part L Building Regulations can be quite a challenge for commercial buildings. More often than not, some form of renewable technology is needed. We use Dynamic Simulation Modelling (DSM) to provide Part L compliance calculations for commercial buildings, large or small. This is a really beneficial way of carrying out this type of design stage energy assessment. It often means that the property will not have to be specified to such a high level and reduces our clients’ build costs. DSM is a much more detailed analysis of a building’s performance compared to ‘standard’ SBEM tools.

This means we can more effectively analyse the effects of solar shading, passive stack ventilation, night time cooling and renewable technologies etc. Why put on 50m2 of solar PV when you only need 25m2 for example (or perhaps not at all)?

For more information on DSM or anything else affecting your commercial project, please email Paul Shipley or call 01636 653055.
