MES London to Edinburgh
In August 2015, MES undertook another mammoth Cycling Challenge – London to Edinburgh, 6 days, 480 miles.
For the route please see the links below;
And we are delighted to inform you that we completed the challenge, within schedule, raising a staggering £5181.75 for three local charities – Newark MIND, the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance and Joel (a Bassetlaw based organisation supporting families who have experienced the loss of a baby). A huge thank you from all the team. Your generosity made the hard work and the sore legs so worthwhile.

A little bit about each one:-
Mind provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. They campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding. Local Mind offices support over 250,000 people across England and Wales. Their services include supported housing, crisis helplines, drop-in centres, employment and training schemes, counselling and befriending.
JOEL THE COMPLETE PACKAGE
JOEL the complete package supports families who are trying to conceive, through pregnancy and parenting after experiencing the devastation of baby loss. Joel strives to offer support to families that is positive, non-judgmental and full of hope via private groups on Facebook, their website forum, email and peer support groups. A baby born after a loss is known as a rainbow baby. In December 2014, Joel was given permission by Bassetlaw Hospital to fundraise and renovate a family room for bereaved parents, allowing families to spend precious time with their baby or babies. The project is estimated to cost £35,000.
THE LINCOLNSHIRE AND NOTTINGHAMSHIRE AIR AMBULANCE
The Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance is a dedicated Helicopter Emergency Medical Service that is 21 Years young this year. Their helicopter can reach any point in the two counties in less than 20 minutes and on average can transfer a patient to hospital within 8 minutes. Each mission costs over £2000 and they fly at least 3 per day, every day. Each year they need to raise £1.9M to keep flying and saving lives. Based at RAF Waddington, south of Lincoln, their base is unaffected by road congestion, country roads, heavy vehicles or road works. Their Helicopter, affectionately known as their ‘ambucopter’, is fully equipped for almost any medical emergency. It is permanently staffed by two paramedics and occasionally a doctor. Every year they fly approximately 1,000 missions and each year the generous people of Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire help them to raise the money to do this.
